Not to mention,Romney conceded every point to Obama last night. I guess the right figures that Romney is just a puppet that they can manipulate if he wins-which is doubtful. He has no backbone to defend his positions-whatever they are at the moment. DS said- "Here's the difference between you and me - if Obama wins I'll find a way to carry on and do my thing without drama or heartache. If Romney wins there will be a mushroom cloud coming out of your collar. Not by the way your behaving.
You and the rest of the right is predicting doom and gloom-all we have to do is go back and read just te comments in his article. You all act like a bunch of little girl drama queens. Despite your long, convaluted extrapolation of misinterpretation,You are wrong. Romney stumbled and stuttered and couldn't put together a cogent answer. He blew the question and confirmed that he knew nothing about the military. If Obama was trying to make Romney look foolish,I'd say he succeeded. You mean the one about Biden schooling Ryan?
Biden had a reason to laugh at him. Ryan did the same bobbing and weaving that Romney does. Obama supporters continue to threaten to riot if Mitt Romney wins the Pres. Farrakhan warns "forces trying 'to keep America white" The Nation of Islam leader told a gathering of 6, Financial sobriety was abandoned in favor of creating new entitlement constituencies, and job creation was deemed far less important than nationalizing the health-care system.
So now I must say to Zathome More projection. I posted above about it-is that what you were referring to,or is it one of the other several factual postings I made? You should try to think more clearly when expressing anger. Tell me which one you're talkng about so I can make you look foolish too " Oct 23, 12 PM. Get back on your meds. You're just one of the several rabid right wingers here who have chosen to constantly name call and berate anyone with a different opinion. I take it back;you don't need me to make you look petty, simplistic, ignorant or stupid.
You do it yourself. Your self-made. I guess that's what it means when the far right ignores the importance of communication and cooperation and concentrates on the self-reliance and personal responsibility it proffesses. It starts beleiving it. The self-made man who forgot the important parts. Actually,I did recognise and acknowledge Obama's dismal performance in the first debate;if Romney didn't lie so much,I would have said he won it handily, but because he's so untrustworthy and deceitful,I said Obama lost it rather than Romney won it.
Why can't you just admit that Romney lost two out of three? Afraid of the truth? Now there are two. Romney practically surrendered to Obama last night. Bayonetts and Horses. Romney's weapons of choice. You do know that during the two gulf wars, the US was able to use highly mobile mechanised armies to defeat Iraq, don't you? After all,we are in the 21st century. You don't have to take Romney so literally. Again the far right demands Obama's school records. Most of his records are available, and thoise that are not are the property of the places that hold them. Why should he fold to a bunch of political blackmailers.
This is political terrorism, and the right is proud to engage in ti if it's all they have to go after Obama. The right doesn't want an investigation-it wants a lynching. And you surmised that because you already did an investigation? Or is it just based on the latest talking points on Drudge? Just say it. We know what you mean. Of course anyone who would sell out would think it was a great deal. Am I cutting close to the bone? After Romney surrendered to Obama by completely agreeing with his policies the other night we know that you guys can't oppose Obama on policy.
You didn't have anything to say when Romney agreed with him all night,so you can't use that as an excuse. And the references to him as "boy" That's a racist reference. If the people who used it really weren't being racist, why did they insist on constantly repeating it? I won't retract. Since you won't condemn the racist term "boy" in reference to Obama,I'll call you a racist. What is clear is that many on your side are more angry with me for pointing out a racist reference than you are at your side for making one. Own that. Apparently, extortion is acceptable if it will win you an election. At least it is to Romney supporters, who will go to any length to defeat Obama.
Romney did a tv ad for a candidate for senate who said that if a woman got pregnant through rape,it was god's will. Romney nominated Paul Ryan as his VP choice, who has proposed the most restrictive abortion laws ever, along with Todd Aiken, who said that "legitimate rape doesn't result in pregnancy". The war on women resurfaces in the republican party. Actually,if you read the article from Reuters,to say with absolute confidence that Obama knew exactly was going on is foolish and irresponsible. No wonder you said it. By the morning of September 12, the day after the Benghazi attack, Reuters reported that there were indications that members of both Ansar al-Sharia, a militia based in the Benghazi area, and al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, the North African affiliate of al Qaeda's faltering central command, may have been involved in organizing the attacks.
One U. Your assertion that Obama knew came directly from Drudge. I just found it there. Drudge is right up there with Breitbart and fox news for balance and accuracy. He's just another far right wingnut with a vendetta against democrats. Drudge is like the bible to right wingnuts.
It's possible for anyone to be racist. To allow others to make statements, without condemnation, that amount to racist references is to enable those samr statements and condone their use. It is possible because you are doing such enabling and even now refuse to speak out against those statements. You are condemning me for pointing them out while giving them a pass yourself. You are condoning them by proxy. As far as my debating skills are concerned,I get you to answer. If my skills arte weak, your ability to respond effectively is even weaker.
And I fear no one. Fear is what you count on,and my lack of fear toward you is more than you can stand. Romney has tried to distance himself from Mourdocks comments, but because is VP choice has been the sponsor fo the toughest ant-abortion legislation ever proposed, and had co-sponsored it with a candidate that they endorsed who sought to define "legitimate rape",and now has thrown his support behind a candidate that defines pregnancy after rape as an act of god,how can women trust him when he has held the position and publicly stated that he would be "glad to sign a bill outlawing aboertion.
We need to remind our women readers what a Romney presidency would mean to them. Okay,my lynching remark was over the top. I'll retract that statement on the advice of a friend, who correctly pointed out that it was too inflammatory. But that doesn't diminish the amount of deliberate racism in the attitudes we see here against Obama. Even Greta Van Sustern on fox "news" has pointed out that Trump is over the top,and I doubt that he would follow through and give up anything to charity because after saying that he was satisfied with the release of the long-form BC he now says it isn't enough.
It won't matter what the president does,it won't be enough, either for trump or anybody here. The hatred runs that deep. And anybody foolish enough to beleive what Romney is selling surely chose the correct screen name for themselves. I have the feeling that raz and others would be willing to sell out for a lot less.
Anybody who is willing to put a price on their personal information shows that their principles are available to the highest bidder. It's very telling. Still no condemnation of the racist remarks being made on their side. Just outrage that it's visible. Romney said that a blind trust was a joke a while ago.
It didn't matter,he could direct where the money went in that trust. I think it was back when he was running against Kennedy for the senate. I 'll find the quote later. M" Oct 25, 12 AM. Most of my responses are done from home,or during my breaks at work. You can see that my posting times are almost always after 4 pm. Okay,if you want to be counted with the people I cited. I wouldn't consider that a stretch" Oct 25, 12 AM. In making you look foolish, that is. Well, you blew that stereotype out of the water.
Trump doesn't have the integrity to actually follow through. No matter what Obams does,Trump won't keep his word. Iknew he said it but I didn't have the info at my fingertips to post at the time. What domestic terrorism? Are you accusing the president of conspiring with terrorists? You better have proof. Cappie- The fact that he said it reveals his character or lack of it and his ethics or lack of them Since he is so willing to find ways to not pay taxes, despite his enormus wealth, speaks to the masses that he is probably cheating in other ways.
Where are his tax returns? We still don't know if he paid taxes over the last 10 years. It's a deliberate attempt to discredit the president. Trump knows the haters would do exactly what they are doing. Powell said he had the "utmost respect" for Mitt Romney, but criticized his tax plan. We know- You do it all the time. Wow,the Sarah Palin defense. That helps your credibility. Then why won't he release his tax returns? What is he hiding? It sure seems to scorch your marbles.
If your fool enough to beleive what you said, stop reponding to me. But you won't. You seem to enjoy the company of the fools who agree with you. It did cite the obstructionism of the republicans in congress who did their best to make America fail, but it's overall assessment of his economic performance was pretty good. But we know you won't bother to read it because it would prove that your lying about his record. Romney is exactly that. More recycling of Caribou Barbie talking points. You should get a new playbook-those charges were disproven years ago-the only place where they get any traction is with low-information voters "Gov.
Palin commented about Sen. The Statement: Republican vice presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin said Saturday, October 4, that Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama is "someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect that he's palling around with terrorists who would target their own country. Get the facts! The Facts: In making the charge at a fund-raising event in Englewood, Colorado, and a rally in Carson, California, Palin was referring at least in part to William Ayers, a s radical.
In both appearances, Palin cited a front-page article in Saturday's New York Times detailing the working relationship between Obama and Ayers. In the s, Ayers was a founding member of the radical Weather Underground group that carried out a string of bombings of federal buildings, including the Pentagon and the U. Capitol, in protest against the Vietnam War. The now-defunct group was labeled a "domestic terrorist group" by the FBI, and Ayers and his wife, Bernadine Dohrn - also a Weather Underground member - spent 10 years as fugitives in the s. Federal charges against them were dropped due to FBI misconduct in gathering evidence against them, and they resurfaced in Both Ayers and Dohrn ultimately became university professors in Chicago, with Ayers, 63, now an education professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Obama's Chicago home is in the same neighborhood where Ayers and Dohrn live. Beginning in , Ayers and Obama worked with the non-profit Chicago Annenberg Challenge on a huge school improvement project. Ayers fought to bring the grant to Chicago, and Obama was recruited onto the board. Also from through both were board members on the Woods Fund, a charitable foundation that gave money to various causes, including the Trinity United Church that Obama attended and Northwestern University Law Schools' Children and Family Justice Center, where Dohrn worked.
CNN's review of project records found nothing to suggest anything inappropriate in the volunteer projects in which the two men were involved. Alice Palmer, who planned to run for Congress, introduced the young community organizer as her chosen successor. LaBolt also said the two have not spoken by phone or exchanged e-mail messages since Obama came to the U.
Senate in and last met more than a year ago when they encountered each other on the street in their Hyde Park neighborhood. The extent of Obama's relationship with Ayers came up during the Democratic presidential primaries earlier this year, and Obama explained it by saying, "This is a guy who lives in my neighborhood There is no indication that Ayers and Obama are now "palling around," or that they have had an ongoing relationship in the past three years.
Also, there is nothing to suggest that Ayers is now involved in terrorist activity or that other Obama associates are. The company will be moved to China the day before the election. I wonder how much Romney's making on that deal. Whatever he takes from the employees,I guess. That's a recycled charge made by Sarah Palin in the last election. It appeals to low-information voters. Not if we can help it. Not long ago,Colin Powell was the darling of the right. Many on the right wanted him to run for president. Now they willingly throw him under the bus.
Naturally, the captain wants to take us backward-to increase our dependency on fossil fuels, pollute the environment, increase global climate change, and let countries like China take te lead in new technologies that could be the basis for creating jobs. Give it all away, cappie. Just so you can get Obama out of office. Even after omney surrendered to him in the last debate. The captain would be happy to trade jobs for power.
Look at what the republican house has been doing for the last four years. Selling out the American people just to defeat Obama. Z said- "A mind is a terrible thing to waste There's a grain of truth to it, but the charge is misleading. Out of the 33, wind turbines in use in America today, ABC News could find only three that were made in China with stimulus dollars.
And once again, cappie lied. Like I said, desperation. The truth doesn't enter into your narrative. To you, like Romney, twisting and lying are part of your game. Colin Powell abandoned a party that lies and deceives. The republican party considers blind obedience loyalty. March in step, don't think for yourself. Tow the party line. The right has to allege voter fraud. Get used too the fact that we're dealing with serial liars. Romney knows the republican party-it threw him under the bus when Bush used him to justify the war in Iraq.
He has credibility and explained his support for Obama very well. Powell is credible, articulate and logical. No wonder the captain doesn't like him. Nice cherrypicking. We don't know Romney's plans for the economy;even if we did,he'd change them. We still don't have a jobs plan from the republicans. Romney still hasn't seen fit to tell us his. We know that his numbers don't add up on his economic plan. We know he knows nothing about international affairs.
All we do know id that he changes his positions all the time. The same Dick Cheney who opposed all the policies that Romney agreed with and endorsed the other night at the debate. And Glen Beck is still bat-shit crazy. Romney is keeping Ryan safely in red states so he isn't askd about the comments by Mourdock, because of Ryans connections with radical positions on womens rights. Sounds like Romney's campaign is coming unglued. I predict a meltdown within a week.
Sensata comes to mind John Sununu has played the race card several times, most recently yesterday when Colin Powell endorsed the president. You yourself have used racial slurs when you keep refferring to president Obama as "boy". Trump isn't interested in helping anyone but himself. If he gave a rats patooty about kids,he would be helping them without seeking the attantion.
He's an attention whore. Powell was thrown under the bus by the Bush administration when they used him to justify their war. You've pre-parsed it. They preach personal responsibility, but they blame Obama for their failings. Powell rewalised that Romney isn't the answer.
The republicans bear the responsibility for the country not moving forward. Even Powell talked about that. Your the expert on hatred, you tell me. Are you still stalking people? Threatening them? Need help? Actually, that was a British production. I never mocked Romney's faith. I mocked his lack of detail, failure to explain policies, failure to disclose his tax returns, ability to insult the world with his comments and his lack of compassion.
Shall I go on? I shant. I ave to go now. Now,why don't you go pull the wings off a fly or something to entertain yourself while I'm gone. You've written more about the attack in Bengazi castigating the administration about four people getting killed than you did about the previous administration letting thousands die in a natural disaster.
Do you enjoy using graves as a soapbox? How about acting in the best interest of the country instead of obstructing and opposing every policy proposed for political gain? Try voting for someone who is more interested in preserving thepolicies and programs that helped build a middle class instead of those interested in dismantling it. Not by the republican House. I seem to remember a more devastating attack that resulted in many more deaths under a republican president whose weak response did more damage than good in the Arab world.
And a good thing, too. First the party nominates a candidate that can't stand by his own principles, who then nominates for his vice president a man who wants to totally undermine the social safety net that gave us the middle class and proposed and co-sponsored the most restrictive legislation on womens righta;next we have republicans telling us that there is such thing as legitimate rape, who is condemned even by Romney but is still running for office sanctioned by the republican party, and now another republican candidate who tells us that pregnancy as a result of rape is "god's will".
Some principles. More conspiracy theories. Maybe he would have if the republicans in the House of Reps participated in governing. Instead they just sat on their hands Even Mitch McConnell siad that the first priority was to make Obama a one-term president. Not jobs-retaking power. It was during a discussion of former Gov. And the real reason a considerable portion of my party wants President Obama out of the White House has nothing to do with the content of his character, nothing to do with his competence as Commander in Chief and President, and everything to do with the color of his skin.
I don't vote against people;that's what republicans are doing by holding their noses and pulling the lever for Romney. They have admitted far and wide that they are voting against Obama-which is another peice of the puzzle that fits what I've said all along. The republicans dn't particualrly care about what Romney stands for,and that's a good thing because he hasn't been forthcoming on any of his plans or policies. When an entire party decides that a poor to middling candidate suits them fine,it's a sign that that party has set the bar very low.
He won't. If you're ignorant of his accomplishments, try educating yourself. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say you're willfully ignorant. What Obama has accomplished- 1. Passed health care reform After five presidents over a century failed to create universal health insurance, President Barack Obama signed the Affordable Care Act It will cover 32 million uninsured Americans beginning in and mandates a suite of experimental measures to cut health care cost growth, the No.
Weeks after the stimulus went into effect, unemployment claims began to subside. Twelve months later, the private sector began producing more jobs than it was losing, and it has continued to do so. Millions of new private-sector jobs have been created. Ended the war in Iraq Obama ordered all U. The last troops left on Dec. Began drawdown of the war in Afghanistan From a peak of , troops in June , U. According to Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, the combat mission there will be over by next year.
Eliminated Osama bin laden In , Obama ordered the special forces raid of secret compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, in which the terrorist leader was killed and a trove of al-Qaeda documents was discovered 7. Turned around U. Since bottoming out in , the auto industry has added more than , jobs. In , the Big Three automakers all gained market share for the first time in two decades.
Banks got back on their feet at essentially zero cost to the government. No American lives were lost. Marco Rubios' daughter was injured in a car accident today. I wish her he best and hope she will be all right. Opinion-Kind of like what you post here? He said that he didn't spend very much time thinking about the person who was responsible for killing 3, Americans.
Your hero. Fox eating their own about the baseless allegations that members of the administration watched the attack in real time- "Fox News host Geraldo Rivera on Friday urged his colleagues at the network's morning show to stop the "politicizing" and "preposterous allegations" about President Barack Obama's response to the Sept.
Mike Kelly's R-PA suggestion that the Obama administration was monitoring the attacks in Libya was in real time was "preposterous. Stop this right now. This whole notion of live TV and why didn't we respond is not what happened. That's the issue. What a surprise. Mitt Romney on Gays- Gov. It's been hard to figure out during this presidential campaign just what Romney wants to do as president.
He was vehemently against same-sex marriage and parents after the law was passed in Massachusetts to legalize gay marriage in But it went deeper than that. He believed gay parents were unfit to be parents and that children born to same-sex couples could be developmentally impaired. He outlined his misgivings about the request from the Registry of Vital Records. Every child has a right to a mother and father. Romney ran for Senate in promising to be a moderate champion of homosexual rights. Mitt strongly believes that gay parents would hurt society as a whole. That's insane.
I believe his Mormonism has a lot to do with his deep-seated hatred of gays. After the Supreme Judicial Court ruling, he actively supported efforts in Massachusetts for a constitutional amendment defining marriage as between a man and a woman. Those efforts never bore fruit. Romney has to be judged by his actions; period. In the story itself, Waas also reports on how horrible Romney was to all the new gay parents in his state. It seemed like a minor adjustment. To comply with the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ruling that legalized gay marriage in , the state Registry of Vital Records and Statistics said it needed to revise its birth certificate forms for babies born to same-sex couples.
But to then-Governor Mitt Romney, who opposed child-rearing by gay couples, the proposal symbolized unacceptable changes in traditional family structures. He rejected the Registry of Vital Records plan and insisted that his top legal staff individually review the circumstances of every birth to same-sex parents. He lied when he ran against Ted Kennedy in promising to be a moderate champion of homosexual rights and he lied when he ran for Governor in Remember when he scored a perfect on a Planned Parenthood questionnaire?
In '02 Romney Supported Roe v Wade Decision and Spending State Funds For Abortion Services He also lied when he said he would never try try to force his religious beliefs about abortion on other people -- a position he's again trying to claim. Of course, during the GOP primaries, he was eager to help overturn Roe v. Wade and vowed to sign a constitutional amendment declaring life to begin at conception.
But that was then, and this is now. Mitt Romney lies about Jeep moving to China- Romney Repeats False Claim That Jeep is Outsourcing All Jobs to China Here we go again with Willard telling about his thousandth or so lie out on the campaign trail, but this time we find out that apparently badly sourced right wing blogs are his fact checking department. Explains a lot, doesn't it? Romney repeats false claim of Jeep outsourcing to China; Chrysler refutes story: Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney repeated a false claim Thursday night that Chrysler Group may move all Jeep vehicle production to China, drawing criticism from the Obama campaign, which said the Michigan native had blatantly skewed a news wire story.
That story, while accurate, sparked a raft of other stories and blogs that incorrectly concluded that Chrysler might close plants or move Jeep production from the U. Jeep assembly lines will continue to stay in operation. Production of the new SUV will begin next summer and the hiring process for the new workers, who are scheduled to start by the next fall, has begun, said Chrysler spokeswoman Jodi Tinson.
As Rachel also noted earlier in her reporting, Romney was out there deriding the stimulus program at This man just lies every time his mouth is open. You'd think he'd pick his audience a little more carefully though, since all he did is make himself look like a blathering idiot less than two weeks from the election, when voters are paying attention, and when voters in the states that were saved by the auto bailout know better than to believe him.
Bush administration before becoming George W. A brief scan of right wing message boards and media figures reveals the ugly strain of racism that lurks barely beneath the surface of many hyper-partisan criticisms of the president. Note that no Caucasian is ever labeled as a racist for endorsing a white candidate. There is a major problem. Romney was telling a lie.
Jeep has no intentions to close American production. Romney had nothing to say about that. Why would Romney cheer for America when he can trash her? He still beleives the lies he's being told. He was wiloling to let Bin Laden go free-maybe because of his connections to the Bin Laden family. Terror is bigger than one person. I'm sure that the families of the that died may have felt differently.
You should research before posting. No, Mr. That's the kind of line that you can expect to fire up a crowd on the campaign trail, especially a crowd in a town like Defiance, which is home to a General Motors GM factory. There's just one problem: It's not true. Here's what is true: Chrysler is indeed considering a plan to make Jeeps in China. But it's not planning to send those Jeeps to the U.
Why would Chrysler want to make Jeeps in China? Lots of reasons, but one big one in particular: China places heavy taxes on imported cars and trucks. Non-Chinese automakers that want to do business in China's booming auto market are almost always better off building their cars and trucks locally. Nearly all of the automakers you've ever heard of are either building cars in China already or making plans to do so" Oct 29, 12 AM.
So a gay woman who has invitro fertilisation shouldn't get a birth certificate for her child? Knuckle drag much? From CBS news- "On Thursday, Romney told a rally in Defiance, Ohio, site of a General Motors plant, "I saw a story today that one of the great manufacturers in this state Jeep -- now owned by the Italians -- is thinking of moving all production to China. I will fight for every good job in America. I'm going to fight to make sure trade is fair, and if it's fair America will win. Bloomberg reported that Chrysler was considering moving production of Jeeps sold in the Chinese market to China, but emphasized that Jeeps sold in the American market would continue to be manufactured in America.
It seems that the right thrives on reporting bad news, even when it's proven to be innaccurate. And they wonder why I call them liars. Romney just hates gays and is willing to go to any length to express it. His record is solid. The captain has jumped to the conclusion that Obama is guilty of something. I half-expected to see the officials squatting on the drain. Do try to keep up. Published: Oct. President Obama, with support among women and an edge in early voters, had a slim lead over Mitt Romney, Politico's Battleground Tracking Poll indicated.
Call the Waaaahhhhmbulance. Looks like Christy is exploding the myth of Obama's lack of leadership. A nice endorsement for the president. The polls are close in some places, but Obama is still ahead, and with so few undecidedes to swing,I'm confident that the president is heading for four more years. Romney can't seem to escape his awkward approach to the people. It's all over but the voting. Let's see- Dan just attacked Hispanics,Jews, gays and blacks. No racism there. Losing the presidential battle so find some other dirt quick! Menendez hired prostitutes while touring the Caribbean and it's being pushed on Drudge.
I have a few things to say about this. He is desperate to hype up some breaking news because he is irrelevant, so I would take this news with a grain of salt. But, at the same time, I wouldn't discount it completely, because they were right about Anthony Weiner before. In either case, this whole thing is stupid. First of all, Menendez is crushing his opposition right now, and things aren't going to move too much in a few days. Second, New Jersians right now care about what their politicians do for them, and Obama and co. Third, I don't even think Menendez is married, Wikipedia says that he is divorced.
So, basically conservatives are accusing Menendez of being attracted to women. As long as he didn't use tax payer money for his trysts- who cares. But considering the source-it's likely that it's just another in a series of hit peices from the right because they're loising their credibility. Even Christy is praising the president. The math is against Romney. He's toast" Nov 1, 12 PM. The republicans are rying to find ways to win without the battleground states-they will lose Ohio,Pennsylvania,Wisconsin, probably Iowa and maybe even Colorado,New Hampshire and Florida.
They're grasping at straws. Hear that,Joe? It's the fat lady. Hope you like music. Giving warranted praise to a President who does his job well is not exactly treason to his party — especially since Christie was the Republican National Convention speaker, and many Republicans have expressed hope that he runs for national office in the future. Think of everybody who would suffer if that happened. That's becausae the republicans in congress won't participate in making things better and just obstruct.
That's okay, when Obama wins his second term and the dems take back both houses of congress, they'll fix it-as usual, without the help of the republicans, who did all they could to prlong the recession. But Romney agreed with all of his foreign policies-does that mean that Romney sucks, too? Or is it just an excuse for something else? Lagality trumps ethics. The collapse of Romney is epic. Unfortuantely, the right can't see it because of his chamelion-like shape shifting. At a so-called "storm relief event" on Tuesday, Romney refused to answer repeated questions from reporters about his campaign vow to eliminate the Federal Emergency Management Agency, or FEMA — the government agency tasked with responding to disasters like Sandy — and turn it over to the private sector.
The event ended with supporters lined up to hand over supplies and meet Romney. Two teenage boys retrieved a jar of peanut butter each, and got in line. It's still W's fault-he did that much damage. Way to take America back. It's over. Romney is toast. The republicans destroyed the economy, and Obama put it back on track. The republicans are lying. So are UD and Cappie. They are desperately seeking relevance. More word salad from the chameleon candidate-Until he put that out,,the story was this- "Romney Refuses to Answer Questions on FEMA Stance President Obama has suspended his re-election appearances to focus on the post-Sandy storm recovery, while Republican challenger Mitt Romney continues to campaign in battleground states.
But Romney's history shows a different attitude toward helping disaster victims- "How about this? After the storm, then-Gov. Mitt Romney asked President George W. Romney vetoed it. This week, Romney has come under fire for suggesting that the federal government get out of the business of disaster relief. But his record in Massachusetts doesn't lend much support to the suggestion that states can handle it alone.
He said the issue of flooding in Peabody was critical and that local officials had reached out to the legislature for help. Barrett chalked Romney's veto of the Peabody project up to a lack of familiarity with infrastructure in the state. The people of Massachussetts know Romney very well-that's why Obama will carry that state. Romney's sense of decency is whatever is politically expedient. It is simply immoral, in my view, for us to continue to rack up larger and larger debts and pass them on to our kids. Naturally Hurricane Sandy Mitt feels somewhat differently. As president, I will ensure FEMA has the funding it needs to fulfill its mission, while directing maximum resources to the first responders who work tirelessly to help those in need, because states and localities are in the best position to get aid to the individuals and communities affected by natural disasters.
He did not address whether he would cut other programs to pay for disaster relief something his running mate, Paul Ryan, has endorsed. Naturally Mr.
Obama picked up the endorsement of Colin Powell,Michael Bloomberg Romney was lying. He does that a lot. The damage was done before the dems took the house and the senate. Now Romney is hiring all the people who did that damage to come back for an encore. Bush redux" Nov 1, 12 PM. And it just happens to come on the same day Mitt Romney is giving a significant speech in Ames, Iowa on boosting economic growth. Who knows. Whatever the case, analysts expect soft growth of 1. Consumption is expected to rise around 2 percent and housing expected to be up 24 percent.
But housing is not as big a factor in the economy as it used to be and a 2. Anything much lower than 1. So you admit that the economy is improving. Think about what would happen if the republicans would stop obstructing and actually pass a jobs plan" Nov 1, 12 PM. Bush's policies led to the high unemployment that Obama inherited. It was well underway before Obama took office. The republicans ignored their obligation to govern and set out to take Obama down.
They abdicated their responsibility and the right applauded it. They let the country crash for political gain. Even you applauded the failure of the republicans to act on behalf of the country. The democrats have a jobs bill, but the republicans filibustered it because putting people back to work wouldn't get them back n power. Yeah,Mitt did a photo op when he bought canned goods and diapers for people to hand back to him to make him look relevant in the shadow of Obama who actually showed leadership in his handling of Sandy.
Your delusional. Bush began it all with tax cuts, then two wars. That put us in a hole-then the housing crisis-remember Buysh saying that everybody should have the American dream of owning a home? He helped that along by encouraging banks to lend. Bush crashed the economy and you won't admit he was responsible for it. Like I said, you're delusional. The republicans set out to obstruct even before Obama took office. As for the jobs bills proposed by the republicans, you are aware of the fact that economists said that they wouldn't create any jobs?
I'll take the words of economists over the right wing screeching to end regulations with purported 'jobs' bills that won't create jobs. First you deny that Bush fueled the housing buble, then you concede it. Which is it? And part of it is working together as a nation to encourage folks to own their own home. Bush, Oct. Lehman Brothers had just gone belly-up, overwhelmed by toxic mortgages. Bank of America had swallowed Merrill Lynch in a hastily arranged sale. The president listened as Ben Bernanke, chairman of the Federal Reserve, laid out the latest terrifying news: The credit markets, gripped by panic, had frozen overnight, and banks were refusing to lend money.
Then his Treasury secretary, Henry Paulson Jr. Bush, according to several people in the room, paused for a single, stunned moment to take it all in. There are plenty of culprits, like lenders who peddled easy credit, consumers who took on mortgages they could not afford and Wall Street chieftains who loaded up on mortgage-backed securities without regard to the risk.
But the story of how the United States got here is partly one of Bush's own making, according to a review of his tenure that included interviews with dozens of current and former administration officials. From his earliest days in office, Bush paired his belief that Americans do best when they own their own homes with his conviction that markets do best when left alone.
Bush pushed hard to expand home ownership, especially among minority groups, an initiative that dovetailed with both his ambition to expand Republican appeal and the business interests of some of his biggest donors. But his housing policies and hands-off approach to regulation encouraged lax lending standards. Bush did foresee the danger posed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the government-sponsored mortgage finance giants.
The president spent years pushing a recalcitrant Congress to toughen regulation of the companies, but was unwilling to compromise when his former Treasury secretary wanted to cut a deal. And the regulator Bush chose to oversee them - an old school buddy - pronounced the companies sound even as they headed toward insolvency. As early as , top advisers to Bush dismissed warnings from people inside and outside the White House that housing prices were inflated and that a foreclosure crisis was looming.
And when the economy deteriorated, Bush and his team misdiagnosed the reasons and scope of the downturn. As recently as February, for example, Bush was still calling it a "rough patch. And both Paulson and his predecessor, John Snow, say the housing push went too far. We now realize there was a high cost. The housing market was a bright spot: Ever-rising home values kept the economy humming, as owners drew down on their equity to buy consumer goods and pack their children off to college. Lawrence Lindsay, Bush's first chief economic adviser, said there was little impetus to raise alarms about the proliferation of easy credit that was helping Bush meet housing goals.
As the economy has shed jobs - , last month alone - and his party has been punished by irate voters, the weakened president has granted his Treasury secretary extraordinary leeway in managing the crisis. Never once, Paulson said in a recent interview, has Bush overruled him. The White House issued an unusually extensive, and highly critical, response to The Times article on Sunday, saying that it had shown "gross negligence" in its reporting and that the story "relies on hindsight with blinders on and one eye closed.
In recent weeks Bush has shared his views of how the nation came to the brink of economic disaster. He cites corporate greed and market excesses fueled by a flood of foreign cash - "Wall Street got drunk," he has said - and the policies of past administrations. He blames Congress for failing to reform Fannie and Freddie.
The president of the United States was standing in his living room. It was June 17, , a day West recalls as "the highlight of my life. West, beset by personal problems, has left Atlanta. Unable to sell his home for what he owed, he said, he gave it back to the bank last year. Like other communities across the United States, Park Place South has been hit with a foreclosure crisis affecting at least 10 percent of its homes, according to Masharn Wilson, a developer who led Bush's tour.
Park Place South is, in microcosm, the story of a well-intentioned policy gone awry. Advocating home ownership is hardly novel; Bill Clinton's administration did it, too. For Bush, it was part of his vision of an "ownership society," in which Americans would rely less on the government for health care, retirement and shelter.
It was also good politics, a way to court black and Hispanic voters.

But for much of Bush's tenure, government statistics show, incomes for most families remained relatively stagnant while housing prices skyrocketed. That put home ownership increasingly out of reach for first-time buyers like West. So Bush had to, in his words, "use the mighty muscle of the federal government" to meet his goal. He proposed affordable housing tax incentives. He insisted that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac meet ambitious new goals for low-income lending. And he pushed to allow first-time buyers to qualify for government insured mortgages with no money down. Republican congressional leaders and some housing advocates balked, arguing that homeowners with no stake in their investments would be more prone to walk away, as West did.
Many economic experts, including some in the White House, now share that view. The president also leaned on mortgage brokers and lenders to devise their own innovations. But Bush populated the financial system's alphabet soup of oversight agencies with people who, like him, wanted fewer rules, not more.
The president's first chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission promised a "kinder, gentler" agency. The second was pushed out amid industry complaints that he was too aggressive. Under its current leader, the agency failed to police the catastrophic decisions that toppled the investment bank Bear Stearns and contributed to the current crisis, according to a recent inspector general's report.
As for Bush's banking regulators, they once brandished a chain saw over a 9,page pile of regulations as they promised to ease burdens on the industry. When states tried to use consumer protection laws to crack down on predatory lending, the comptroller of the currency blocked the effort, asserting that states had no authority over national banks. The administration won that fight at the Supreme Court.
But Roy Cooper, North Carolina's attorney general, said, "They took 50 sheriffs off the beat at a time when lending was becoming the Wild West. But the White House shelved them in , after industry-friendly members of Congress threatened to block confirmation of his new housing secretary. The administration did not complete the new rules until last month.
